Five Chesapeake Conference schools recently received grants totaling $40,000.00 from Versacare Inc. in the Educational Technology category. The grants are for digital textbooks, computer lab, and innovative technology such as smart boards, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) or other types of technology, as well as robotics. The schools that received grants are: Spencerville Adventist Academy, $10,000; Frederick Adventist Academy, $10,000; Mt. Aetna Seventh-day Adventist School, $10,000; Dover First Christian School, $5,000; and Chestertown Seventh-day Adventist School, $5,000. Highland View Academy (HVA) received $10,000 last year.  The grant stipulates that a school is not allowed to apply consecutive times, therefore HVA could not apply this year.

Spencerville Adventist Academy is using the monies to purchase more equipment and supplies for their new STEM lab, the Fun Fab Lab, Smartboard and a few more iPads for the lab. They will also be using some funds to pursue STEM certification. Frederick Adventist Academy is using their funds for new Chromebooks with charging stations and new teaching tablets with large LED screens for their middle school teachers. Mt. Aetna SDA school will be purchasing Smartboards for their classrooms with their allocation. Dover First Christian School and Chestertown Seventh-day Adventist School will be receiving additional technology and STEM kits.
