Spencerville Women’s Ministries Holds Virtual Retreat

Story by Kandace Zollman / Spencerville Church

On Sabbath, October 10, the Spencerville Women’s Ministries Retreat that was originally scheduled to be a wooded autumn getaway, took to the internet and transformed into what was titled, “A Virtual Escape.”  The theme for the day was “Unlocking Communication for Positive Change” which was an exploration of the different ways that we communicate – from social media to our time with Jesus on our knees. Kandus Thorpe, formerly of Hope Channel International, led out as the keynote speaker, and thought-provoking breakout sessions were conducted by Lisa Green, Fylvia Fowler Kline, Marissa Leslie, Eunmee Shim, Amanda Rodriguez and Dinpuli Schaffer. Over 100 participants from different churches took part in the virtual retreat, which also included music and an art show featuring local church artists.

“Putting together a retreat online was a very different experience and presented a lot of new challenges,” says Geri Mueller, director of the Spencerville Women’s Ministries department and coordinator of the event. “It was amazing to see God provide … we really feel like He blessed this new way of providing a ‘getaway’ for women of all ages!”
