Alive: Salisbury Spanish Congregations Welcome Cambridge Church for Seventh Annual “Santa Convocatória”

Members of the Salisbury Spanish Church and Salisbury Spanish company gathered with the Cambridge Spanish company in Fruitland, Maryland, on Sabbath, July 25, for the seventh annual Santa Convocatória, or “Holy Convocation,” a district-wide event the Salisbury Spanish district has held since 2018. This year marked the first time the Cambridge congregation joined the gathering, bringing the total to three congregations worshiping together for the day.

Pastor Eli Rojas led the morning session, teaching that preparation for mission begins with an encounter with God. “The preparation for our mission must be an encounter with God first,” Rojas told attendees.

Pastor Jean Pierre, the district pastor who organized the event, echoed the theme in his remarks. “We cannot go into ministry without first connecting with God,” Pierre said.

The afternoon program featured presentations from several members. Ignacio Goya spoke about practical ways to help people engage with their communities and experience the presence of God. The musical group Voces Sin Fronteras, from the Spencerville Spanish Church, provided music for the gathering.

The event reflected the Chesapeake Conference’s “Alive. Together. On Mission.” vision, emphasizing unity and shared purpose among the region’s Spanish-speaking congregations. Click here to learn more about this initiative.
