Canals currently serves as an associate treasurer for Chesapeake Conference.

Aurora Canals was elected as an associate ministerial secretary for the General Conference Ministerial Association on June 7 during the 61st GC Session in St. Louis, Mo. She will serve as the director of Pastoral Spouses and Families.

Canals currently serves as an associate treasurer for the Chesapeake Conference. The new position will allow Canals to work closely in ministry with her husband, Ramon, who was elected as the ministerial secretary.

“I am humbled and honored to have the opportunity to serve God in the World Church Ministerial Association,” Canals says. “This new leadership role serving in God’s church represents a huge change from my current responsibilities. But I am totally dependent on God to guide me with the power of the Holy Spirit.”

Canals began working at Chesapeake Conference as an assistant treasurer in 2016. She has served as an associate treasurer since 2018. Before joining the conference, Canals worked for 18 years in the Oregon Conference Treasury Department.

“Aurora has been nothing but diligent, dedicated, and dependable,” says Eduardo Munoz, Chesapeake Conference treasurer. “It is going to take a while for us to adapt to her leaving us, as her influence on the Treasury team was immense. As she moves on to her new role at the GC, we know she will achieve any goal she sets for herself, and we wish her the best.”

Canals will transition to her new position later this summer.
