Adventist Education Welcomes New Educators with Vision-Casting Orientation

  • News

The Chesapeake Conference Education Department gathered its newest teachers at the conference office in Columbia, Maryland, on August 6, to prepare them for ministry in Chesapeake’s schools.

Janesta Walker, Superintendent of Education, led the orientation, walking the incoming educators through the department’s vision and the key components that will guide their work alongside the conference’s veteran teachers.

The session covered five main areas: the department’s discipleship focus, the Chesapeake Conference STEM program, standards-based learning — an initiative driven by the North American Division and the Columbia Union, high-reliability schools, and conference working policy.

“Chesapeake is a great place, and we are so excited to have them here,” Walker said. “We look forward to partnering with them in ministry.”

The orientation is designed to fully onboard new educators so they are ready to step into ministry alongside Chesapeake’s seasoned teaching staff as the new school year begins.

Chesapeake schools’ first day of the 2026/27 school year is on August 17.
