Registration for Chesapeake Conference's 2024 Camp Meeting is now open.
The convention was held from Dec. 1-3 at Mt. Aetna Retreat Center.
More than 45 leaders for children’s and youth ministries from around the Chesapeake Conference convened at the Mt. Aetna Retreat Center from Dec. 1-3 for a pivotal leadership convention. This biennial event brought together coordinators from various ministries, including Adventurers, Pathfinders, Youth, Hispanic Youth, and Young Adults.
The convention featured worship services with messages from Shawn Paris, Summer Camps and Missions director for Chesapeake Conference. Attendees were also afforded structured time for personal prayer, reflection, and valuable collaboration with fellow leaders. The focus was on strategic planning for the ministries, encompassing a wide array of activities and initiatives.
A significant development at the convention was the creation of a new Youth Ministry coordinators team. This team is set to play a crucial role in shaping youth engagement within the conference. Leaders at the convention also approved some new area coordinators, updated curriculum, and planned activities and events for the following year.
Reflecting on the convention, Kenia Reyes de Leon, Youth and Young Adult Ministries director for Chesapeake Conference, expressed her optimism. “It was wonderful to see how God has led us and all the excitement around where God is leading us to,” she said. “Our focus is discipleship, and we know that God will lead us to train, equip, mentor, and guide our children, youth, young adults and their leaders close to Jesus through our various activities and events.”
