Children and Youth Leaders Gather to Learn, Despite Snow

  • News

More than 150 lay leaders participated in “Children and Youth Leaders’ Enrichment Day” at the Baltimore-White Marsh church.

Children and Youth Ministries leaders gathered at the Baltimore-White Marsh church on March 12 for Chesapeake Conference’s “Children and Youth Leaders’ Enrichment Day.” The event drew a turnout of more than 150 despite snow throughout the day in many regions of the Conference.

The enrichment day provided specialized training for leaders working in specific areas of Children and Youth Ministries. Ten training tracks were conducted simultaneously across three breakout sessions during the day for ministries such as Adventurers, Pathfinders, Teen Leadership Training (TLT), and FLAG Camp. Several sessions were also offered in Spanish.

Diego Boquer, senior pastor of the Baltimore-White Marsh church, delivered the event’s keynote message and spoke on the importance of leadership during the worship hour.

“We find that when our leaders are trained, they feel more confident,” says Ann Reynolds, Chesapeake Conference Children’s Ministries director. “[This event] provides [leaders] with the additional training they need to continue the special ministry they’re doing here within the Chesapeake Conference.”

A Children and Youth Ministries Convention is scheduled for Sep. 9-11 at the Mount Aetna Camp and Retreat Center in Hagerstown, Md.
