Dover First Church hosts marriage retreat with David Asscherick, Jennifer Jill Schwirzer

“Try This at Home: Marriage” was held June 22-23.

Dover First Church held a two-day retreat titled “Try This at Home: Marriage” on June 22-23, aimed at strengthening marriages within the community. The event featured Pastor David Asscherick, speaker/director for Light Bearers, and Dr. Jennifer Jill Schwirzer, a licensed professional counselor, author, and frequent speaker. They led seminars, group discussions, and activities designed to enhance marital relationships based on biblical principles.

Fifteen couples participated in the retreat, which provided an intimate setting conducive to connection, discussion, and learning. Asscherick also delivered two presentations during Sabbath School and church, which were open to the entire congregation.

Javier Scharon, pastor of Dover First Church, expressed his hopes for the event’s impact. “I hope the couples will learn the importance of investing in their marriage relationship,” Scharon said. “Marriage is hard work. You have to invest time. It’s not easy. I’m praying that everyone learns that marriage is worth investing in so that we will be able to show God’s love through our marriages.”
