Five Chesapeake Pathfinder teams advance to PBE Finals

The teams earned first-place designations at the Columba Union PBE on March 9.

Five teams from the Chesapeake Conference have advanced to the North American Division (NAD) level of the Pathfinder Bible Experience (PBE) following their first-place finishes at the Columbia Union PBE event on March 9.

The advancing Chesapeake teams are the Atholton Faithblazers, Ellicott City Bible Bullets, Ellicott City Warriors, Washington Ghanian Peacemakers and Washington Ghanian Warriors. The Westminster Timberwolves earned a third-place designation.

The union-level event took place at the Tranquil Valley Retreat Center in Andover, N.J., beginning with vespers on Friday evening. During the main PBE event on Sabbath, teams answered detailed Bible questions on the books of Joshua and Judges. Attendees were also treated to a motivational address by Frank Bondurant, vice president for Ministries Development for the Columbia Union, and engaged in activities to earn additional Pathfinder honors.

“It was a very exciting weekend,” said Kenia Reyes, Youth and Young Adult Ministries director for the Chesapeake Conference. “It was incredible to see how much the Pathfinders had studied and prepared for this. Their thorough knowledge of Joshua and Judges was evident.”

The PBE NAD Finals are slated to occur in Greeley, Colo., on April 19-20. Reyes also underscored the considerable backing from the Columbia Union, which pledged $2,000 to the teams advancing to the NAD level, easing the financial burden of participation.
