Chesapeake Conference churches added 545 new members in 2022 through baptism or profession of faith.
The weekend event featured messages from guest speaker Jonathan Montes.
The Frederick (Md.) church hosted a youth and young adult rally last weekend that drew over 70 young people to the event. The “Encountering Jesus” rally was held Sept. 2-3 and featured messages from Jonathan Montes, youth director for Georgia Cumberland Conference and a former youth pastor of the Frederick church.
The rally weekend also featured icebreaker games, shared meals, testimonies, group discussions and an open gym game night. Youth leader Sue Boughner said one of the weekend’s highlights was a prayer walk on Sabbath afternoon where youth and young adults knocked on doors in a local neighborhood and asked if they could pray with the residents.
Alareece Collie, associate pastor, said events like the weekend youth rally are important for providing “focus time to build social and spiritual relationships.” She said she was encouraged to see several of the young adults take an active role in planning the rally and invite their friends.
