Gonzalez currently serves as a Bible teacher and chaplain at Spencerville Adventist Academy.

John Gonzalez was ordained to the gospel ministry during a service at the Spencerville Church in Silver Spring, Maryland, on Feb. 10.

Gonzalez, a high school Bible teacher and elementary and middle school chaplain at Spencerville Adventist Academy, will transition to a new role as associate pastor for youth and young adults at Spencerville Church beginning in June.

Born in the Bronx, New York, and raised in Reading, Pennsylvania, Gonzalez’s academic journey led him to Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in theology and a Master of Divinity from the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary. During his time at Andrews, Gonzalez served in various leadership roles, including religious vice president for the Andrews University Student Association, a Bible worker at Pioneer Memorial Church, and lead pastor for the Connection Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Before joining Spencerville Adventist Academy in 2022, Gonzalez served as a youth pastor in Texas.

Reflecting on his ordination, Gonzalez expressed his gratitude and humility. “I am overwhelmed with gratitude to God for the support of the Chesapeake Conference, friends, and family. This experience is a testimony that God excels in using broken vessels for His perfect purpose,” he said.

Gonzalez’s ministry is supported by his wife, Nayeli, who teaches second grade at Spencerville Adventist Academy.
