Leaders gather for evangelism and church planting training

Chesapeake Conference hosts Proclaim and ACTS training events

Chesapeake Conference recently hosted two important training modules for pastors and ministry leaders as part of its ongoing commitment to evangelism and church growth.

The second 2025 module of the Proclaim cohort was held May 12–13 and focused on how to plan and conduct an effective evangelistic series. Speakers included Roger Hernandez, Southern Union’s ministerial and evangelism director; Pavel Goia, editor of Ministry Magazine; and David Klinedinst, Chesapeake Conference Evangelism and Church Growth director.

One week later, from May 19–20, Chesapeake hosted the ACTS (Assess Coach Train Send) church planting cohort. This module focused on forming a core team for a new church plant and featured presentations from Chesapeake pastors Elvis Mogoi and Jenner Becerra, as well as Potomac Conference’s Edwin Vargas, lead pastor of Beltsville Church.

In addition to Chesapeake Conference pastors and members, cohort participants from Allegheny West, New Jersey, Ohio, and Potomac conferences joined the training.

Klinedinst said these training programs helped support evangelistic initiatives, such as Reach Baltimore 2025 and Pentecost 2025. “These cohorts directly support Reach Baltimore,” said Klinedinst. “ACTS supports the church planting we want to do in Towson and around the Urban Life Center. Proclaim supports the numerous evangelistic meetings we want to do throughout Baltimore in 2026 as follow-up to Reach Baltimore 2025.”
