Planned Giving and Trust Services hosts estate planning seminar
Seminar offers practical guidance on wills, trusts, and healthcare planning

On Nov. 3, the Planned Giving and Trust Services Department hosted an estate planning seminar at Living Word Church in Glen Burnie, Md., providing attendees with practical insights into preparing for the future. Led by Director Tom Boggess and Assistant Director Jerry Howard, the seminar focused on guiding church members through essential estate planning tools.
The presentation, titled “Estate Planning 101,” covered a variety of planning options, including wills and revocable trusts. Attendees also learned about key healthcare documents, such as healthcare power of attorney and living wills, which can ensure that their wishes are legally documented and respected.
The presenters took questions throughout the session, creating an interactive environment where attendees could get specific answers to their estate planning concerns. “Our goal is to help members make sure their desires, including support for ministries, are clearly documented in a format that carries legal weight,” Boggess explained.
The Planned Giving and Trust Services Department offers estate planning services free of charge to assist church members in creating wills and planning for their futures. For more information, members are encouraged to contact Assistant Director Jerry Howard at jhoward@ccosda.org.
