Triadelphia Church Offers “Rest” to Fairgoers at Howard County Fair

Members of Triadelphia Church in Clarksville, Maryland, invited thousands of fairgoers to pause and reflect on rest for eight days during this year’s Howard County Fair at the Howard County Fairgrounds in West Friendship, Maryland.
The church’s booth, themed “Finding Rest in a Tired World,” greeted visitors with a life-size photo backdrop of a shade tree, sunflowers, and green turf, along with a wooden bench and a hand-lettered sign that asked, “Tired?” Families stopped to take photos on the bench throughout the week, making it a popular stop among all the fair’s booths.
Samuel Nuñez, Pastor of the Triadelphia Church, said the booth’s message was intentional. “We wanted the fairgoers to feel the need for the weekly rest on Sabbath, the way we need to rest when we are tired and stressed out.”
Volunteers offered visitors free copies of Vibrant Life magazine and the books Remembering the Sabbath, Desire of Ages, and The Great Controversy. The event collected about 300 entries for a free drawing, with an MD State Park Pass among the most popular prizes, emphasizing the theme of resting in nature. A wheelbarrow invited attendees to figuratively “dump” the things that stressed them out. Scavenger hunt clues also gave children a way to explore the fairgrounds while learning about the church’s presence there.
Forty-nine adult volunteers and another fifteen youth members staffed the booth alongside church leaders, answering fairgoers’ questions about the Seventh-day Adventist Church, praying with attendees, and inviting them to visit Triadelphia Church, located at 12950 Brighton Dam Road in Clarksville, Maryland.
The fair booth is part of Triadelphia Church’s efforts to connect with nearby communities, and it has introduced the church to that community for more than 25 years, according to Joe Reeves, who organizes the yearly event.
