Washington Ghanaian Church distributes food to families in need
Local outreach effort provides food assistance to 100 households

Story by Kwabena Opoku Boakye and Chesapeake Currents
On Feb. 7, the Washington Ghanaian Church in Columbia, Md., in partnership with the Centre for Assistance to Families and Coastal Sunbelt, hosted a food distribution event at the church to provide food to individuals and families facing food insecurity in the local community.
A dedicated team of 15 church volunteers helped distribute the food packages containing non-perishable goods and fresh produce to approximately 100 households.
Encouraged by the success of the event, the church plans to hold similar food distributions on a quarterly basis. Future events may also include health screenings and educational workshops to expand the resources offered and provide additional support.
