West Frederick Small Group Series Leads Nine to Baptism in the Monocacy River

Five Frederick, Maryland, families opened their homes to host small group Bible studies during a West Frederick Church-organized evangelistic campaign held Sept. 5-12, resulting in nine baptisms in the Monocacy River.
Pastor Juan Carlos Leones led the week-long event, which met nightly in the five host homes across Frederick. The small group format allowed attendees to study Scripture in an informal, conversational setting before the campaign concluded with a baptism at the River.
Nine people decided to give their lives to Jesus Christ through baptism, joining West Frederick Spanish Church in Frederick, MD.
West Frederick Spanish Church belongs to a three-church district that also includes Canaan Church and Frederick Spanish Church. Together, the district’s three congregations run 13 small groups that meet regularly every Friday night.
“These groups have been a great blessing from heaven. They are the spearhead for winning souls. We don’t give up; we keep encouraging, training, and motivating each leader,” Leones said.
“Small groups are not simply an alternative when we can’t do a traditional campaign. They are a powerful strategy to share Jesus, form disciples and multiply the mission,” said Orlando Rosales, Chesapeake Conference Hispanic Ministries coordinator.
The West Frederick campaign reflects a growing emphasis on small group evangelism across the Chesapeake Conference, as members open their homes to reach neighbors with Bible study and prayer.
