Youth Department Launches Master Guide University

  • News

The inaugural monthly training event was held on Oct. 14.

The Chesapeake Conference Youth Department officially launched a new youth leader training initiative called Master Guide University on Oct. 14, charting a new course for the certification of Pathfinder Master Guides in the conference. The inaugural event hosted at the Chesapeake Conference headquarters in Columbia, Md., drew over 80 attendees.

The new program transitions the conference’s Master Guide certification program from a self-guided format to a monthly class structure, facilitating enhanced interaction and collaboration among youth leaders throughout the Chesapeake Conference. The inaugural training session, conducted in both English and Spanish, delved into the principles of Christian leadership.

Kenia Reyes, Youth and Young Adult Ministries director for Chesapeake Conference, said the move towards regular in-person trainings is designed to assist local leaders in keeping up with the curriculum so they can feasibly achieve their Master Guide certification within a year.

Furthermore, Reyes emphasized the benefits of a learning environment where leaders have the opportunity to gain insights from peers holding comparable ministry roles. This synergy permits leaders to exchange experiences, collaborate, and share knowledge.
